Matthew is a multi-jurisdictional practitioner with experience in business litigation, intellectual property disputes, and transactional matters. Matthew’s litigation practice includes both trial and appellate court experience with breach of contract matters, commercial disputes, employment matters, shareholder and partnership disputes, developer defense litigation, real estate matters, and trade secret claims. Matthew also practices before the USPTO, including trademark/trade-dress infringement TTAB proceedings. Matthew provides outside general counsel services to a variety of businesses and his transactional practice has assisted clients with asset sales, stock purchases, the purchase and sale of businesses, and a variety of real estate transactions.
Before joining TALG, Matthew worked at regional law firms and one large international law firm and primarily practiced financial services and consumer finance litigation. Matthew has prior experience with litigation and appellate work, including business litigation, real estate litigation, real property and title insurance disputes, construction defect litigation, and insurance defense.
Matthew graduated magna cum laude from Thomas Jefferson School of Law with his Juris Doctorate and a Certificate in Global Legal Studies. During law school, Matthew was an articles editor for the Thomas Jefferson Law Review, was the Vice Chair of the Thomas Jefferson School of Law Moot Court Honor Society, and participated in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. Matthew also studied abroad and participated in an international law program in Nice, France, and interned at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. Before law school, Matthew attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and graduated with a double major in History and Political Science. Matthew also studied abroad as an undergraduate student in Florence, Italy.
When he is not practicing law, Matthew enjoys rooting for Wisconsin sports teams, going to the mountains, traveling, historical fiction, and spending time with his family.
